There’s no other place like the south bank of the Thames to bring together the modern and the ancient as Old Father Thames slowly glides along. On this stimulating yet relaxing walk we’ll start at the magnificent St Paul's Cathedral, cross the river on the Millennium Bridge crossing to Bankside to Shakespeare's Globe, see where bears were baited and hear of the scandals of the Winchester Geese. We pass the site of an ancient prison, see London Bridge, visit an alehouse where William Shakespeare once drank and Pepys wrote about the Great Fire.
To help you relax at the end of it all, you can put your feet up with a cheeky half, at a fine old English pub, the last example of one of the great galleried inns, where Dickens and Shakespeare drank.
This tour covers:
•St Paul's Cathedral,
•The Tate Modern Art Gallery,
•The site of Shakespeare's original Globe Theatre,
•The New Globe Theatre,
•Remains of Palace of Bishops of Winchester,
•Site of the old Clink Prison,
•The Anchor Pub,
•The George Inn,
•The story of fog and pollution and the story of the Great Fire.
Complete our Booking Form and we will create a unique walk just for your group based on the above stops which could include a Foodie tasting session at Borough Market or Fish and Chips and a light ale at the George Inn.
Just a brief note to thank you and Lorna for the walking tour I participated in yesterday, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lorna is certainly knowledgeable about London and is generous in sharing little, unusual facts about the various sites we visited. I wish your venture every success.
