Hi ! I'm Seb ! I love guiding because London is the most diverse, exciting city in the world. The best thing about London City Steps is the people we train to be tour guides. London’s youth have a wealth of talent and to watch them learn the walks and create their own pieces of
historical research is incredible. I love learning about the capital and passing my knowledge onto other people. London City Steps is a young, vibrant and organic enterprise comprised of the most diverse individuals from the capital and that’s why I love tour guiding – the people
We think when you take the youth of London, mix up their natural enthusiasm and energy with the rich story of London, the result can really be quite exciting. We recruit people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and then train and employ them as walking tour guides. All of our profit goes towards this social objective. We hope that through this work, they can acquire new skills, grow in confidence, value teamwork and have knowledge of their local community.
London City Steps was set up by Loona Hazarika and Angela Brivett in August 2009. Angela is a Director of Change Community Project which promotes business development and gives accredited programmes to train guides as part of the National Open College Network Accreditation. Loona learnt tour guiding after 4 years as an official British Museum tour guide and has guided hundreds of people around London. He also set up the audio guide system at the Genocide Memorial Centre in Kigali, Rwanda and has advised and appeared on Sky TV's "Urban Secrets".
Today much of London City Steps has grown due to input from young people who have helped us develop websites, walks, marketing campaigns and events.
